New Year’s Eve, U.S. Bombs to Drop Early in New Year!

By December 28, 2018 Uncategorized

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, December 28 through Thursday, January 3.

As the world turns the page into a New Year within the next few days, there will be live music to accompany it on the area stages. Monday night, New Year’s Eve, will feature a number of live music performances to usher in 2019. And downtown State College will hail in the New Year with their annual First Night festivities throughout Monday; check out the listing below to find out all of the entertainment associated with First Night, as well as other New Year’s Eve musical celebrations.

And it won’t take long for the first noteworthy concert event of the New Year to take place. McGarvey’s will present influential 1990s southern California punk rockers U.S. Bombs on Wednesday night, along with guest bands Total Chaos and X’s For Eyes. Formed in Orange County, California in 1993, U.S. Bombs has been through various incarnations, and has issued numerous albums and EP’s, including several during the late 1990s and early 2000s with Epitaph Records side label Hellcat Records. The group issued their latest album, “Road Case,” last year on Slope Records. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
