A Vulgar Display of Penntera This Weekend!

By January 11, 2019 Uncategorized

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, January 11 through Thursday, January 17.

Among the performances hitting area stages this weekend is a treat for fans of the extreme power metal of Pantera, as southcentral PA-based Pantera tribute Penntera brings their high-powered heavy metal assault to McGarvey’s on Saturday night. A group that has graced the stage of Altoona’s Railroaders Museum and last year’s inaugural Pennsylvania Roundhouse Rally, Penntera has built its resume as the state’s premiere Pantera tribute, and they will bring the fury and firepower of Pantera’s music to McGarvey’s stage. The group’s current edition features lead vocalist Jason Robison, who brings his own brand of go-for-broke intensity and unbridled stage energy to Penntera’s forefront. Packing the instrumental firepower behind him are lead and rhythm guitarist Pat Bowser, bassist Zack Arthur, and powerhouse drummer Eric “Space” Dengler. Local heavy rockers Maul will open the show, which starts at 9 p.m. McGarvey’s is a non-smoking venue.

Other area stages are busy with popular band favorites and solo artists, so don’t let the forecasted snow flakes dissuade you from enjoying live music this weekend.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
