B-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-ring The Live Music!

By January 25, 2019 Uncategorized

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, January 25 through Thursday, January 31.

Winter’s other shoe has dropped, and snow, ice and bitter cold have made their arrivals in central Pennsylvania. With more brutal cold temperatures in the forecast for the next week, consider warming up with some of the live music options happening on area stages during the next several days.

Several benefit events punctuate the live music schedule for this weekend. The “Cabin Fever 2” party will take place on Friday evening at the Casino at Lakemont Park, with Felix & the Hurricanes providing the music. Tickets are $15 per person, which includes a dinner buffet starting at 6 p.m. and the band beginning at 7. Proceeds help out the U.S. Armed Forces Mothers, who send packages to American military personnel serving overseas.

Also happening this weekend is the annual “Sips & Snacks in the Stacks” fundraiser at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library. This takes place on Saturday evening starting at 7 p.m., and features wine-tasting from area wineries, appetizers, and live music from local pop/jazz duo Raining Blue and “Music Man” Ron Balestino. Tickets are $20 per person, with proceeds helping out the library.

Altoona’s Knights of Columbus present their annual celebration of the Feast of St. Brigid with the annual St. Brigid’s Dance on Saturday evening. The celebration of one of Ireland’s patron saints begins at 7 p.m. with food, refreshments and music from popular local Irish rock favorites Full Kilt. Tickets are available in advance (none will be sold at the door) for $25 per person, and can be purchased by calling (814) 280-7661.

The Hungry Duck Restaurant in Roaring Spring presents the latest installment of their popular Songwriter’s Night on Friday evening. This event provides a showcase for area songwriters to present their original song creations before a receptive and appreciative audience. All musicians are welcome. The event starts at 8 p.m.

Check out the listing below for all of the performances happening this weekend, including area band favorites, solo performers and multi-band events.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
