Exciting News! Mark your calendar!
ArtsAltoona is going to once again be partnering with the Penn State Altoona Sheetz Fellows for a great community event! Many of you remember the success we had with our joint venture in the Spring of 2018 with stART here in Juniata. We are very fortunate to have been selected to work with these amazing students again this year. We have 20 students, some Seniors, some Juniors and some Sophomores who have chosen to work with us on creating, planning and implementing a follow up event in the Spring of 2020.
At our first session together the class voted from several options to hold the event in downtown Altoona along Eleventh Avenue and at Heritage Plaza this time. We discussed several possible dates and they decided on Saturday, April 4th, so please put us in your calendar now and plan to bring your family out. The name chosen for the event is Spring into the Arts.
This week the students divided up into small groups and began to compile lists of potential food vendors, non-profit and for profit organizations and businesses to invite as well as performers – music, dance, etc.
We also got some great news that will help us make the event a success – we received a letter from the PA Rural Arts Alliance that we are going to receive a grant of $1331 for seed money. We will, of course, be seeking additional sponsors and partners. Please let us know if you are interested in participating in any way.
We will continue to give you updates as the planning progresses. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to work with these very talented young people and to expose them to the many great things happening in the Altoona/Blair County area!
Until next time,
Donna
