A Live Music Transition into 2020!

By December 27, 2019 Around the Area, Music

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, December 27 through Thursday, January 2.

Several live music events highlight this weekend’s slate, before numerous shows and celebrations carry live music fans into New Year 2020.

McGarvey’s presents two of the weekend highlights. On Friday night, popular southern Blair County modern rockers On The Run return from their hiatus with a reunion show starting at 10:30 p.m. And returning on Saturday night is eastern PA-based Beastie Boys tribute Brass Monkeys with special guests Shallow 9; the music starts at 9 p.m.

New Year’s Eve Tuesday features a number of events to close out 2019 and begin 2020. Downtown State College will again host First Night State College, with musical and other performances happening at venues throughout downtown State College; check out the complete listing of First Night events below. Visitors can purchase a First Night button for $10 at various downtown State College locations; the button grants access to most of the First Night performances. And be sure to browse the ice sculptures throughout downtown and at Sidney Friedman Park.

Happy New Year! And please resolve to support live and local music in 2020!

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
