While we are all practicing social distancing we are continuing to make plans for the future of our ArtsAltoona Center at the Simpson-Temple buildings that now belong to us.

As a variation on our After School Arts Program (ASAP) classes (several of which got postponed or canceled when schools and libraries were shut down) we are making plans for summer programs for youth so we can be ready once gathering is allowed again!

The facilities at 2212 Sixth Ave in Altoona provide many options indoors and out. We are discussing offering a two week long session, probably in the afternoon. This is likely to focus on the creation of a large mural, the subject of which would come from the students who participate.

We may also offer “sampling” arts classes once a week with different types of arts, each for one, two or three weeks. These would be for primarily students who live in the area who would be able to walk.

What sort of art (visual, musical, literary) do you think we should include? Are there artists you would recommend? (Must like working with youth and have/get the necessary clearances.)
Do you know youth in the area who would be interested? Would you like to be a sponsor? We greatly appreciate any input you can provide!

Please message us through our ArtsAltoona Facebook page or through our website www.artsaltoona.org.

Be well,
