Coming Up w/ a Side of Thanks!

Street Eats with a Side of Art

Next Wednesday, August 26 from 5 to 8pm is our Street Eats with a Side of Art event. This family friendly event will have food trucks, including our friend Doug’s DAWGS, music by DJ CHAOS, and free arts participation activities for all ages. Bloom Yoga & Wellness will be presenting a Family Yoga Jungle Adventure at 6pm and 7pm. The Blair County Emergency Management Department is planning to bring their Big Red education vehicle. Maria Brandt from The Arc of Blair County will be sharing information important for and about people with disabilities.

This year is the Women’s Suffrage Centennial – the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution granting women the right to vote was certified on August 26, 1920. Local historian, Elaine Conrad will share some local Suffrage connections. Valerie Stratton will tell us about Grit and Grace, a historical pageant that she is directing. It was written by local playwright Kathy Muller and will be performed on the Lawn at Baker Mansion on Sunday September 13 and 20 at 2pm. A non-partisan voter registration and information table will be available.

Yoga on the Lawn – Just Two More

Come to the sessions, no need for advance registration. Part of your $10 contribution benefits ArtsAltoona. Please help to spread the word and come to enjoy the fun and relaxation.

Texas Roadhouse – Dine to Donate

Thanks to Texas Roadhouse for working with us on a fundraising evening held on Tuesday. We sold bags of peanuts and we will receive 10% of the meals from those who handed in the flyer. Thanks to all of you who supported us. A big thank you also to Candy Holliday for organizing the event and setting up and working the table for our peanut sales at the restaurant. I worked a shift at the table, but Candy did the heavy lifting. Thanks! 😊

See you soon!
