There’s a Lot Happening with ArtsAltoona

By March 11, 2021 Area Events, Arts, Dining, Family

We are hard at work creating and implementing lots of arts activities. We are planning to offer a wide variety of experiences for people of all ages and skill levels. When we say “arts” we are referring to a diverse list of creative endeavors – Visual Arts (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, pottery/ceramics, video/film-making, architecture, etc.), Performing Arts (dance, music, theatre, spoken word poetry, etc), Literary Arts (fiction, drama, non-fiction, poetry, prose) and Culinary Arts (cooking, baking, chocolate making and winemaking). We would love to know what classes you would like to attend for yourself and/or family members. Please email us your ideas at info@artsaltoona.org.

Also, if you would like to teach with us or recommend someone else, please get in touch. Let us know if you are ready to come to in person classes (with appropriate precautions) or if you prefer online classes for now. Thanks for your input! We are here to serve the community.

Paint & Sip

This coming Saturday, March 13, one of our ArtsAltoona volunteers, Candy Holliday, is organizing a Paint & Sip event. It will be held in the Blank Canvas (lower level of the Education Center). The painting part of the evening is going to be led by Sarah Jubeck, owner/operator/artist of Paint Party by Sarah. The sipping part of the evening is with ReKlaimed Vines Winery from their location in East Freedom. If there is something you like from your sampling, they will have bottles available for sale. The evening runs from 6 to 8pm on Saturday and the all inclusive charge is only $40. If you are interested, please click the link below to register. We need to make sure adequate supplies for painting – and sipping – are available. I hope I will see you there!

Mommy and Me Paint Party

Thanks to Leah Klevan, organizer, and Olivia Steele, artist, for hosting a successful Mommy and Me Paint Party in the Blank Canvas event space at the ArtsAltoona Center last Saturday. We hear that everyone had a good time and created a pretty three part floral art hanging to take home for display.

Artist Gallery Showing

We are working on plans for our first Artist Gallery Showing to take place in the Sanctuary at the ArtsAltoona Center. Artist Megan Devine is planning her showing for Saturday, April 17, starting at 4pm. We are working to hold an Art Market earlier the same day in the Blank Canvas featuring local artists and vendors. If you are interested in getting information about participating, please email us at info@artsaltoona.org.

Tours of the ArtsAltoona Center

Have you visited us yet at the center? If not, we’d love to have you come visit us to show you around. Most of the rooms are undergoing some level of renovation, but we can show you how it is – and share what our vision is for the future. We are creating a Wish List for needed items, materials and work projects that we can share as you tour.
Most of the rooms at the Center are available for rental. What events are you planning? Baby shower? Family reunion? Organization fundraiser? Wedding? Reception? Business training? Please let us know how we can meet your needs. Email us at info@artsaltoona.org.

Enjoy the spring-like weather and keep supporting the arts!
