Classic Vinyl Concert Series, Orion SIDS Benefit This Weekend!

By February 4, 2022 Music

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, February 4 through Thursday, February 10.

For those tired of cabin fever after the passage of Winter Storm Landon’s fury in the past two days, plenty of live music events throughout the region provide good excuses to get out of the house this weekend and upcoming week.

The State Theater of Johnstown debuts a brand new concert series on Saturday evening. “The Classic Vinyl Concert Series” will present live performances of various renowned albums of the vinyl record era. The kickoff concert will feature a 17-piece all-star band of musicians from Johnstown and the surrounding area taking on Stevie Wonder’s epic 1976 double-album set “Songs in the Key of Life.” Considered by many to be Wonder’s signature album, this set featured hit songs such as “I Wish,” “Sir Duke” and “Isn’t She Lovely.” The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets were nearly sold out at the time of this posting, with less than 50 left. Advance tickets are $20, or $25 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased through the website www.statetheaterofjohnstown.com. The State Theater is located at 336 Main Street in Johnstown.

Local classic rockers Bone Jacked will donate their talents on Sunday as part of a benefit in memory of an area youngster. Orion Patrick Ellis was just five months old when he passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The benefit in his memory will take place at the Hookies Fire Company, 1216 Blair Avenue in Tyrone, from 1 to 6 p.m. Bone Jacked will perform their blend of classic and southern rock favorites from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will also include a spaghetti dinner, plus 50/50 drawings, a lottery tree and more. Donation at the door is $8 per person, and all proceeds will benefit SIDS research in Orion’s name.

Browse the listing below to see the live music options for the next seven days. (If you plan to take in any of the Friday evening shows, you might want to check ahead to make sure they are still happening, as wintry precipitation from earlier in the day may have prompted the cancellations of some events.)
