Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, July 8 through Thursday, July 14.
Live music will again be plentiful throughout central PA during the next seven days, with a number of concerts and festival events, and Arts Festival weekend on the horizon.
Altoona’s “Summer Sounds” concert series continues on Friday evening as 80s hair band celebrants Hair Force One bring their party to Heritage Plaza. The music starts at 6 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, and admission is free.
Three communities celebrate their heritage with festival events. The annual Northern Cambria County Regional Heritage Festival takes place on Saturday in downtown Northern Cambria, and will feature a variety of activities, including arts, crafts and food vendors, live music on two stages and a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. Admission is free…The 17th annual Jackson Township Heritage Festival will take place from Friday night through Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park in Vinco. This festival will feature a variety of vendors, childrens activities, a petting zoo, hayrides and live music all three days. See the listing below for further details. Admission is free…And marking Philipsburg’s 225th anniversary, the four-day Philipsburg Heritage Days festival will happen from Wednesday through Saturday in downtown Philipsburg. Various arts and crafts, food and other vendors will be available, as well as a wateremelon-eating contest on Wednesday, a flower show on Friday, a grand parade and fireworks on Saturday, and live musical entertainment all four days. Admission is free.
The Mountain Music Memorial event will happen on Saturday at Trophy Mountain Lodge near Huntingdon, with five bands and performers providing the music beginning at noon. Held in memory of Harold G. Barr and Gregory H. Habeth, the event will feature performances from Mike Williamson, Stephanie & the Wild Hearts, Autumn Rising, Jon Fish and Ole 97 (Johnny Cash/June Carter tribute). Admission is $20 per person.
And after a two-year absence due to COVID-19, arts festivals return to Centre County later in the week. The five-day Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts returns to downtown State College, beginning with Children’s Day on Wednesday and continuing through Sunday. As before, a multitude of arts vendors will line various streets and thoroughfares throughout downtown State College and on the Penn State campus. Continuous live music will happen on a number of stages from Thursday through Sunday; see the listing below for Thursday’s entertainment slate (the remainder of the festival’s itinerary will be posted in next Friday’s listing)…And the four-day People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts returns Thursday at a new location, Grange Park in Centre Hall. This festival will also feature multiple arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, and live music on two stages. Again, see the listing below for Thursday’s activities (the remainder of the festival’s itinerary will be posted in next Friday’s listing).
Needless to say, live music will be easy to find both outdoors and indoors during the next seven days. So browse the listing below, pick out an event or two (or more) and SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!
